Police are investigating possible child abuse, as reported in the afternoon today during events in the Alturas II sector of Peñuelas.
According to preliminary information, authorities received a call from the Center for Diagnosis and Treatment of the aforementioned municipality, reporting possible child abuse instead.
The district officers went to the hospital facility, where they were told that a child under the age of 2 was being transported by his stepfather and left in the pediatric area.
The minor received medical attention from Dr. Torres, who was diagnosed with bruises all over his body, multiple facial trauma and superficial mouth abrasions, and was referred to San Lucas de Ponce Hospital. At this time his condition was unknown.
The first investigation was conducted by agent Aníbal González from Peñuelas district. Agents assigned to the Ponce area sex crimes and child abuse ward appeared on the scene, conducting the corresponding investigation. The Department of the Family was also informed.
