They are evaluating 16 possible cases of the new COVID strain in Puerto Rico

The president of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Puerto Rico, Víctor Ramos, indicated that more than ten cases are currently being evaluated on the island to confirm whether they are infected with the new British strain of COVID-19 coronavirus.

In an interview with Radio Isla, Ramos explained that it involved about 16 samples, as these people had contact with positive cases of COVID in the state of Florida.

“Certainly here there is a lot of travel history to places where the tension is already positive, especially Florida, and in fact there have been people who have had a travel history and interacted with people who are already certified as having the variant in those states. and the samples have been sent to be sequenced and confirmed to be the variant and likely to come out positive, “the health professional said in an interview with Radio Isla.” They are people who have interacted with people who have already had contact with tested positive for the variant in the United States, ”added.

Like the designated Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Carlos Mellado, Ramos is convinced that the new species has already arrived on the island. “I think he’s here too, that’s a matter of verification,” he said in the radio interview.

On January 18, Mellado said in an interview with the same channel that “thinking differently would be an illusion”.

According to the Telemundo website, 92 cases had been reported in Florida as of yesterday, of which this state has the largest number of these cases in the United States.
