They are attacking the air base that houses US troops in Iraq

Three missiles were fired at the airport Erbil, en the north of Iraq, one of them hit one military complex where are they soldiers de the coalition led by U.S, two security sources informed AFP on Monday.

The others two missiles cyesterday they were in residential areas near the airport, one of the sources said, without being able to indicate immediately if they were there victims. It is the first time in nearly two months that a attack against military or diplomatic facilities in Iraq.

At around 6:30 p.m. GMT, an AFP reporter heard several loud explosions andn the northwestern edge of Erbil, the capital of the autonomous region of Kurdistan in Iraq.

At least Iraqi sources told AFP three missiles were fired in the direction of airport.

Western military and diplomatic locations have beenthe attacked by dozens of missiles and bombings since the fall of 2019, but most violence has occurred in Baghdad.

Both US and Iraqi officials have blamed it armed groups hardliners, including the pro-Iranian Kataeb Hezbollah faction.

These groups are against the US-led coalition, who has his based in Iraq since 2014 to help local troops enter the battle jihadist group Islamic State.

With the Isis largely defeated, the coalition has been reduced to less than 3,500 troops a total of 2,500 of them US troops.
