Joe Biden tightened and ordered the rules for the use of masks last week quarantine for people flying into the country, which exceeded 25 million cases Monday and recorded 420,965 deaths, but it did not specify the time of the quarantine and whether it will be the same for travelers and US citizens.

The latest update – of January 25 – on the requirements, published on the embassy’s portal, does not detail that passengers must undergo mandatory quarantine upon entering the United States.

Towards herd immunity

Joe Biden predicted on Monday that the United States will achieve collective immunity to Covid-19 by the summer, the spread of which leads several countries to tighten restrictions on entry into their territory despite the vaccination campaign.

The president assured that the United States, the country most mourned by the pandemic with more than 420,000 deaths, “is well on its way to herding immunity” for the boreal summer, and that the vaccine could be delivered en masse in the spring.

“It will be a logistical challenge beyond anything we’ve tried in this country,” he told reporters of the mass vaccination.

But in the meantime, the United States joined France, Israel and Sweden to limit certain arrivals, in response to concerns about newer, more contagious strains of the virus originating from the United Kingdom, South Africa and Brazil.

New Zealand announced on Monday that it had discovered a case of the South African variety, and the United States reported its first case of the Brazilian species.

In this context, American biotechnology company Moderna wanted to send a message of hope by ensuring that its vaccine is effective against the British and South African variants of the coronavirus.

Experts believe the vaccine should “protect against these newly discovered variants,” Moderna said after a lab test, specifying that they will try to develop an additional dose to increase protection against these strains.
