These are the new biosecurity measures to follow at El Salvador International Airport

The air terminal has tightened its measures given that more tourists are expected to arrive in the country before the Easter holidays.

The Easter holidays will increase the flow of travelers using the international airport as an air transit terminal. For this reason, the Autonomous Executive Port Commission (CEPA) has enacted new biosecurity measures to timely identify people suspected of COVID-19.

These are some of the new provisions that passengers using this terminal must comply with.

* Thermal imaging cameras Six new thermal imaging cameras have been installed in the main corridors of the terminal that can be used to measure the temperature of tourists from a distance. These cameras are located in strategic areas such as check-in entrance, main entrance, inspection point 4 and corridors of rooms 4, 8 and 10. A year ago, three more were installed in different parts of the passenger flow.

* Minimum number of accompanying persons This provision is not new, but will be reinforced this holiday to ensure compliance. A maximum of two people may accompany the traveler, regardless of whether they leave or enter the country. The farewell area is in the main car park and before entering your temperature will also be measured and you must wear a mask.

* Monitoring system to avoid crowds To prevent people from entering any part of the airport and increasing the risk of COVID-19 contamination, CEPA has strengthened its video surveillance system. The responsible personnel check on screens which areas are busiest and direct their teams to ensure the required physical distance.

* Disinfecting stations Several disinfection stations with gel alcohol have been installed at the airport so that anyone can apply it on their hands. This provides more security for terminal users.

* Foodcourt and Plaza de la Bondad are still closed The airport keeps these areas closed because they are busy places. The food court was a regular family farewell area, but due to the pandemic, it is not possible to take advantage of it.

* Shops open, but with measures Passengers can make purchases in duty-free shops, but they must adhere to the biosecurity measures they require, which basically include the use of a mask, the application of alcohol gel, and temperature measurement.
