The Ministry of Health and Social Protection has decided through an administrative act to unify and update the biosecurity measures on both national and international flights. If you plan to travel, know what measures to take.

Julián Alfredo Fernández Niño, Director of Epidemiology and Demography, indicated that with the Resolution 411 of 2021 All biosafety protocols are united on national and international flights, which will take effect on April 7, 2021.

In general, most recommendations apply to any type of flight. “Some recommendations that are already outdated or have little scientific evidence are being updated, such as those related to restrictions on aircraft entertainment systems, because if properly disinfected, they do not pose a greater risk,” the official explains.

To enter the airport:

In accordance with the provisions of Resolution 411 of 2021, passengers with symptoms related to Covid-19 are not allowed to appear at the airport. This includes those who have been in “close contact” with a positive for covid-19 or those diagnosed with the coronavirus in the past 14 days.

Passengers must enter the terminal no more than 2 hours before the scheduled time of their flight if it is a domestic flight. If the flight is international, you must enter the airport no more than 3 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Negative PCR for International Travelers:

Faced with the test, it must be done within 96 hours of entering the country. For those who do not file it, a strict isolation protocol has been established for 14 days with strict control by the health and judicial authorities.

International passengers are also required to provide real information about their health status, their origin, their recent contact with suspected or confirmed cases of covid-19, and to provide exact and accurate information about their phone number and address in Colombia.

Use of mask:

All people over the age of two must wear surgical masks, and adults over the age of 60 are recommended that they wear N95s. “Given the emergence of the new variants and the contact with people of different origins in closed spaces, which forces us to take extreme measures despite the ventilation of the aircraft,” said Health Minister Fernando Ruiz.

Travelers are also advised to wear multiple masks during the flight to change them. If the flight is longer than two hours, it is recommended to replace the mask if it is dirty or wet.

Using the CoronApp application:

The latest update from the Ministry of Health also highlights the continuity in the use of CoronApp on domestic flights and Check-Mig on international flights.

“The reason we believe CoronApp is effective is because it now ties in with the results of covid-19 samples and shows whether people have tested positive in the past 14 days,” explains the health minister.

Therefore, Fernández said, the recommendation is repeated to travelers who have had positive tests in the past 14 days, have been in contact with a suspected case of covid-19 or have symptoms, they will not be able to travel.

Travelers must also report to their EPS, to the territorial health authority of their place of residence and stay, to the National Tracking Contact Center (CCR), and to the airline if they show symptoms that coincide with the 14 days following their flight. that of the covid-19.

On flights of more than 2 hours in which people can eat, they should do so at intervals allocated by rows, to prevent all people from removing their masks at the same time.

Track and trace after the flight:

In accordance with the provisions of Resolution 411 of 2021, travelers must respond to the strict tracking and monitoring performed by the CCNR or the Department of Health of the jurisdiction where they will be staying or staying. This measure applies to all people who come to the country from abroad, whether they have nationality or not.
