These are the 26 cities where beaches and spas will be closed by municipal decision

The Association of Mayors announced today that the first 41 associate executives will introduce a unified Executive Order with greater restrictions on COVID-19, despite dissatisfaction with the decision announced yesterday by Governor Pedro Pierluisi.

In the said implementing decree that will apply to municipalities with popular mayors, they determine the closure of beaches, spas, keys and islets.

This regulation applies to the following 26 municipalities:

Mayagüez, Rincón, Aguada, Aguadilla, Isabela, Quebradillas, Hatillo, Arecibo, Barceloneta, Vega Baja, Dorado, Toa Baja, Carolina, Loíza, Río Grande, Luquillo, Naguabo, Yabucoa, Guayama, Arroyo, Salinas, Santa Isabel, Juana Díaz , Ponce, Peñuelas and Guánica.

The implementing order adopted by the municipalities comes into effect today, Friday, and runs until April 30.

Other provisions that apply to all 41 municipalities are:

  • Municipal workers and government offices must switch to virtual mode for non-essential tasksThose who are not essential and who cannot work remotely will initially enjoy the accumulation of compensation time or accrued vacation leave.
  • Shops and malls must promoting collection and delivery systems.
  • They do not issue waivers or permits for any type social activities.
  • Cancellation of all municipal activities and the use of public and communal spaces, which promote the agglomeration of people, understood as festivals, carnivals, tournaments, retreats, among others.

In addition, the curfew imposed by the governor remains in effect in all municipalities, along with the other provisions.
