There is a demake of Metroid Prime in the works and a demo for it

Nintendo, do something with this series besides procrastinating

Metroid Prime is a classic. I don’t think that’s up for debate. It’s just like that.

Nintendo thinks so! That’s why they re-released it in trilogy form on Wii years later after its GameCube debut in 2002. But since that Wii edition of 2009, the series has remained inactive. I mean, one more is said to be in the works! But that could take years at this point. Enter the fandom.

There is still a huge collective gathering around the Metroid franchise in general, as well as the Prime series. One of those groups managed to make a demo of it Metroid Prime, which is now available in demo form. This demo includes the Tallon Overworld, Artifact Temple, and the Chozo Ruins, but the team “needs to spend more time” working on expanding that setup.

The demo itself is the result of five years of work by “Team SCU.” Presumably to avoid legal issues, the team is calling this project “Prime 2D,” although I’m not sure that will be enough if Nintendo really wants to tackle this.

Because I inevitably say the “thank you Destructoid, you personally emailed Nintendo to stop this!” posts, I will note here that the project creators post a public post for the demo and ‘Let’s Plays’ are already on YouTube (as below), one of the world’s largest video platforms, for public viewingThe “secret” is out!
