An officer in Staffordshire, central England, labeled the thieves as ‘the world’s most unlucky burglars’ and compared them to the ill-fated crooks in the movie ‘Home Alone’.
He said one of the two was accidentally on his phone and called 999, the British emergency number, so that officers could hear the crime and eventually overhear how their colleagues arrested the duo.
“I think we’ve just arrested the world’s most unfortunate burglars,” Chief Inspector John Owen wrote on Twitter.
“While committing a burglary, one of the clumsy burglars accidentally sat on his phone and called 999,” he wrote.
“We (got) a phone call describing all of their antics to the point where our patrols arrived to arrest them.”
To add insult to injury, Owen added a gif of the ‘Home Alone’ character Marv, who turns out to be comically unsuitable for a crime life in the Macaulay Culkin Christmas movie.
