His “twin brother” was shattered in a fatal accident when his owner lost control and fell off a cliff on the Pacific coast.
The world’s last Shelby Cobra 427 Super Snake, manufactured in 1966 for American driver Carroll Shelby, it will be auctioned at the Barrett-Jackson home in Scottsdale, Arizona (USA).
The ‘super hose’, chassis number CSX 3015, will be part of a private collection of exotic sports cars that will be showcased at Barrett-Jackson’s 50th anniversary auction. The annual offer was scheduled for January, but was postponed to March 20-27 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The CSX 3015 is the last of the two Super Snake Cobras in the world. Its ‘brother’, the CSX 3303, also made in the 1960s, was shattered in a fatal accident when its owner lost control and stormed off a cliff on the Pacific coast.
The price of the lot could break another record. In 2007 the car has changed hands for $ 5.5 million, according to the Motor Authority, the highest price of an American car ever sold at Barrett-Jackson to date.
At auction in March, the Super Snake is one of the few vehicles to be offered with a minimum reserve price, unlike the rest of the collection and almost all other lots.
