The United States is sanctioning two capos of the Mexican cartel CJNG

The United States on Tuesday increased pressure on the Mexican cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG), with sanctions against two senior officials: Carlos Andrés Rivera, alias “At the company“, and Francisco Javier Gudino, known as “The chicken

The two capos were accused of helping orchestrate murders. These sanctions block access to American financial system and they command freezing everything good in this circuit.

The US authorities indicated that this cartel is responsible for violent attacks on rival groups to ensure territorial control of human trafficking activities.

In addition to sanctions against the leaders, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) pointed to the travel agency Alejandro Chacón Miranda for its role in facilitating travel for lower-ranking members of this cartel.

“Today’s actions remind us that the Treasury will continue to punish those who support the CJNG, be they a violent actor or an accomplice businessman,” said Andrea M. Gacki, OFAC director.

According to the Treasury Department, this cartel is one of the main responsible for shipping illegal drugs – including fentanyl – to the United States.

The Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel was founded in 2007 as a group of hitmen at the service of the Sinaloa Cartel, led by Joaquín “Chapo” Guzmán, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in the United States. Around 2010, the CJNG gained independence and is now fighting for positions in drug trafficking with its former allies.
