According to information from Johns Hopkins University, the United States has surpassed 19 million confirmed coronavirus cases on Sunday since the pandemic began.
The country crossed that line just six days after reaching 18 million. The number of confirmed cases in the country has doubled in less than two months.
Deaths from COVID-19 in the United States are also on the rise, now totaling more than 332,000, which equates to more than one death per 1,000 Americans. According to the Census Bureau, the country had about 331 million inhabitants on Saturday.
About 4% of the world’s population lives in the United States, but it has recorded about 24% of all coronavirus cases and 19% of deaths from COVID-19. However, health experts believe that many cases have not been reported, both at home and abroad.
