The UK government is in talks with the French authorities about the resumption of freight traffic interrupted due to the discovery of a coronavirus mutation, it said Tuesday it is considering testing truck drivers for COVID-19.
“We are in talks with our French colleagues” and “we will find a solution,” said the Minister of the Interior. Priti Patel, all channel Sky News.
“It is part of the discussion” to conduct diagnostic tests in UK ports before departure, he said.

Another 800 trucks are parked at a nearby old airport. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Monday afternoon that he had discussed the matter with French President Emmanuel Macron, and they were “trying to resolve the situation in the next few hours”.

Johnsoncriticized for managing a pandemic that has claimed nearly 68,000 lives in the UK, argued that the risk of transmission from truck drivers alone in their cabins is “really very low”.
