An apparent mistake on the UK government website accidentally revealed the date for Prince Philip’s funeral – the morning of Saturday, April 17, a report on Friday.
The 99-year-old royal family died Friday at his home in Windsor Castle, where he and his wife, Queen Elizabeth II, stayed during the COVID-19 lockdown.
“On April 9, 2021, Buckingham Palace announced the death of His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh,” read the since deleted post on the Gov.uk website, as revealed Friday by British news site Express.co.uk.
“From this date began a period of national mourning that will last eight days until the morning of the funeral,” the apparently erroneously placed announcement continued.
“During that time, the government will issue guidelines for the public, organizations and businesses to observe the mourning period,” he said.
The government website currently only says, “Further announcements will be made in due course.”
Buckingham Palace has been cautious about hypnotizing details of the funeral – due to coronavirus restrictions and Philip’s declared dislike of “any fuss.”
His last wish had been to pass away peacefully at home, sources have told The Post.
