The TSA hopes to fulfill the roles of transportation security guards (TSOs) at approximately 430 airports in the United States by this summer, the release said.
“TSOs are a vital frontline defense in securing our nation’s commercial air transportation system,” Melanie Harvey, acting executive assistant administrator for TSA’s Security Operations said in the statement. “Every day, our agents screen hundreds of thousands of airline travelers to ensure they arrive safely at their destinations. We expect to regularly screen a larger number of travelers by the summer months and need additional agents to support our critical mission.”
The TSA said it hosted virtual job fairs and other recruiting events in cities across the country to fill full-time and part-time positions.
