Secretary of the Treasury Department, Francisco Parés Alicea, today offered a “virtual orientation” on the second round of payments of the economic stimulus approved by the federal congress.

On Monday, Parés Alicea presented the plan to distribute the checks on the island to the federal Internal Revenue Service (IRS), about “10 hours” after President Donald Trump reversed his threat of vetoing the legislation and made it law.
The bill signed by Trump grants most citizens $ 600 individual checks, but the federal House of Representatives yesterday approved to raise them to $ 2,000, as requested by the president.
The leader of the Republican Senate, Mitch McConnell, blocked the measure this afternoon. Independent Senator Bernie Sanders said he would freeze part of the Defense Department’s budget if the Republican leadership didn’t include the amendment the president had called for.
