The tourist says he would never return to Puerto Rico after 20 days in prison

A tourist identified as Edison Njoku Konan, who visited the island a week ago, assured in an interview with “Noticentro” (Wapa) that he would never return to Puerto Rico because of the way he was treated during a police intervention.

The man was arrested on March 19 by San Juan Municipal Police officers while having a drink in the Placita de Santurce. This is due to violation of the executive order imposed by the government to control cases of coronavirus, COVID-19.

“The police stopped me and started asking me why I didn’t have the mask, but we were out drinking and no one had his mask because everyone was drinking,” said the young man.

He claims he left the scene because none of the police officers spoke fluent English in order to communicate with him.
