Anyone fancy an extremely R-rated ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’?
Warner Bros. released the first full trailer for The suicide squad, writer / director James GunnIt’s kind of sequel to 2016 Suicide SquadObviously, a trailer isn’t the deciding factor in the final quality of a movie, but King Shark does say ‘nom-nom’ and eat a man’s whole head, so I’m pretty comfortable with it. to declare The suicide squad the best superhero movie ever made.
But really, this trailer had a great mountain to climb and introduced a handful of new characters, again– introduce a few leftovers from the previous movie – Boomerang, you beautiful bastard – and generally convince the audience to buy back after the disappointment that was Suicide SquadIt is usually quite successful! There’s no real hint of a plot yet, but you definitely get the vibe Gunn is going for, a rapid-fire ensemble action comedy that’s grand in banter, violence and color. I’m sure Gunn would rather people not just consider this an R rating Guardians of the Universe, but this … absolutely 100% feels like an R rating Guardians of the Universe, but that’s still a pitch I like to see. It also seems that the brutal charm of this cast will carry a huge load; I’d say 40% of the zingers in this trailer actually land, but Margot Robbie is so committed to Harley Quinn, Idris Elba | is such a big difficulty, and John Cena‘s arms are so disturbing, inhumanly large that it still feels natural. More of David Dastmalchian like a deeply depressed Polka-Dot Man, please.
