The shot that frustrated Daddy Yankee’s dream

SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO.- Could you imagine Daddy Yankee do something other than sing reggaeton? The reality is that this was not the true dream the famous Puerto Rican wanted for his life.

Although he was always into music and his father was a salsa percussionist, his real dream was not to be a famous singer. “El Cangri” wanted to become a famous baseball player.

Yankee lived in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in America for years San Juan, Puerto Rico, but unlike other of his friends, he managed to get out of crime thanks to his love of music and sports.

As the same reggaeton noted in an interview, a stray bullet pierced his leg and hit his hip when a hitman mistook him for another person. Yankee confessed that the only person who helped him was a drug addict.

The bullet he received from one IF 47 he damaged his leg so badly that he could no longer take up the bat and ball to become a famous baseball player.

Ultimately, this episode marked his life and led him to see music as a tool to move forward.

Yankee started his music career selling his songs on the street, but his persistence has made him one of the most successful figures in the urban genre.
