The Seismic Network records nine Earth movements in the south this morning

The Puerto Rico Seismic Network (PRSN) recorded eight earthquakes, all reported as being palpable, with magnitudes ranging between 2.1 and 3.9 early today, Thursday.

There is no tsunami warning or warning due to the earthworks.

The first earthquake during this morning was recorded at 1:02 am with a magnitude of 3.3 and an estimated maximum intensity of III in Guánica. The epicenter of this natural phenomenon was 10.09 kilometers southeast of Guánica with a depth of 12 kilometers.

The largest and most recent earthquake was 4.0 as recent as 7.17am. The epicenter had a depth of 7 kilometers and, according to the Seismic Network, the epicenter was located 10.39 kilometers east-southeast of the aforementioned municipality.

3. Magnitude 3.06 – Reported as felt at 3:22 a.m. The epicenter was located at a depth of 12 kilometers, 10.43 kilometers southeast of Guánica.

4. Magnitude 2.78 – Reported as felt at 3:42 AM. The epicenter was located at a depth of 14 kilometers, 9.6 kilometers southeast of Guánica.

5. Magnitude 2.15 – Reported as felt at 3:45 a.m. The epicenter was located at a depth of 13 kilometers, 11.28 kilometers southeast of Guánica.

6. Magnitude 3.63 – Reported as felt at 3:51 a.m. The epicenter was located at a depth of 11 kilometers, 9.42 kilometers southeast of Guánica.

7. Magnitude 3.98 – Reported as felt at 5:21 am. The epicenter was located at a depth of 12 kilometers, 9.98 kilometers east-southeast of Guánica.

8. Magnitude 3.59 – Reported as felt at 5:34 am. The epicenter was located at a depth of 12 kilometers, 10.06 kilometers southeast of Guánica.

9. Magnitude 4.00 – Reported as felt at 7:17 AM. The epicenter was located at a depth of 7 kilometers, 10.39 kilometers east-southeast of Guánica.

On December 28 last year, there was a magnitude 4.7 earthquake in the same geographic area as the quakes that occurred today. On January 6 of this year there was a magnitude 6.4 earthquake, also in the southern area.

In the area southeast of Guánica is the Punta Montalva Fault, which has been studied by dozens of scientists since the Earth’s movement at the beginning of the year.
