Mix the perreo and the bolero, and they mix well. It’s enough to listen to Los Rivera Destino’s new single with the collaboration of singer-songwriter Pedro Capó to recognize that both genres have their meeting points. The two dance stickyOne softer than the other, but eventually the buckle is tied in both.
This is confirmed by the chorus of the single “Castigo”, released on digital platforms today.
“Stick this is a bolero / let go of that hair / let’s dance /
Stick this is a dog / let go of that hair / let’s cool down “
Comprising Carlos Figueroa, Antonio Sánchez and Fernando Tarrazo, this new combination of Los Rivera Destino ripens the group’s formula of bringing personalities and musical styles to their proposition that distance them from what is commonly heard. To this success, they add the humor that adorns each of their works, making each song an enjoyable and innovative experience.
“Mixing reggaetón with Pedro makes sense as Pedro has done a lot of boleros and also because of the family connection he has with Bobby Capó, one of the best the island has given. I think it made sense to do a bolero but something alternative, something different, moved like reggaetón and both genres are known for the way they dance so it would make sense that it was him and it all worked, ”said Tarrazo.
Produced by Ismael Cancel, the song was made prior to the pandemic, but it hasn’t found a better time than the current one, mostly because of the nostalgia caused by not being able to return to the dance floors to let go. hair and let go of your emotions by dancing.
“Since we made the song, I remember the first thing we thought was, ‘This song feels like Pedro Capó’ and we wanted that to happen from the start. We already knew him. He had shown interest in working with us, so we approached him. We sent him the demo and he liked it and we understand that his voice, his flow and all the work he did on the subject were perfect, ”said Figueroa.
The audiovisual story that supports the Sony Music single goes between a disco and a wedding in which Capó takes on the role of a priest. Everything takes place in a vintage setting that harmonizes very well with the romance that the bolero wears.
“We shot the video in Miami, already in a pandemic, and it shows in the fact that, for example, they can see instead of having human extras, but are mannequins, and that’s a concept that we also use to take advantage of the special moment that we are living ”added Sánchez.
“Punishment” anticipates a complete repertoire that the group will present during the summer, also produced by Cancel.
“I think everything is done with the heart,” Tarrazo expected. “They are songs that we write and think about things that we would like to hear from us, but there are songs that we know people would like to hear from us. As far as the collaborations are concerned, it will be a big surprise; there will be a lot of movement, songs that are meant to be laughed at, songs that are more moving. It describes well what we are going through now and what we are and what we have always been ”.
