The respected professor of medicine in Cauca died after losing the battle against COVID-19

Néstor Solarte Fernández, a renowned Professor of Medicine at the University of Cauca, died at the age of 81 from the coronavirus. He left a great legacy to the doctors he trained who work today to mitigate the impact of COVID-19.

Those who knew him described him as a gentle, assertive, communicative and hopeful professional. He had an extraordinary ability to diagnose and treat.

He had an exceptional memory and helped train a thousand health workers

“He’s the best doctor Cauca gave, a humanist doctorconcerned about the organic, concerned about that mental, emotional and respectful part of the other person’s mind, “said Dr. Alberto Bossa.

For two weeks, Dr. Néstor Solarte fought, but COVID-19 took his life. The Cauca health union is in mourning.

“The COVID pandemic has claimed the lives of some of our teachers. Dr. Solarte was an internal medicine teacher in Popayán, Cauca, Colombia, and we deeply regret this passing,” said Popayán’s Health Secretary, Óscar Ospina.

Friends, doctors and patients regretted his departure and assured the skies are dressed with the arrival of this hero, who helped control the virus. An irreparable loss to the medical community.
