The resident commissioner responds to rioting in the federal Capitol

Residential Commissioner Jenniffer González assured in a tweet that she was outside the federal Capitol building during several clashes between protesters in favor of President Donald Trump and security officials.

“I am extremely saddened by what is happening in Congress today. Thank goodness I’m doing well and I’m out of the Capitol,” González said via his Twitter account.

A few minutes later, the Commissioner sent another tweet in which she “condemned the violent acts of the people”.

“I strongly condemn today’s violent acts in Congress. The will of the people is respected, those are the values ​​of our nation. I respect the demonstrations, but never the use of force to get the message across. It’s painful. to see what’s happening today, ”posted to his Twitter account.

“Respect for the will of the people, expressed in democratic processes and the peaceful transfer of power between administrations in our nation, is the fundamental foundation of the longest-lived democracy in the history of the world,” added González. Government agencies must be able to perform their constitutional duties without interruption or intimidation, as required by law and order, ”the commissioner later added.

González, who identifies as a Republican, has defended several of the president’s determination and is even an active part of the Trump campaign.

In fact, González was co-president of the Republican group “Latinos for Trump” along with the former president of the Fiscal Control Board, José Carrión III.
