NEW YORK – DMX, the rapper whose style used to include howls and barks in addition to his rallying cry “What!” Has passed away, his family reported. He was 50 years old.
The hoarse-voiced rapper produced songs like “Ruff Ryder’s Anthem” and “Party Up (Up in Here).”

The Grammy-nominated artist died of “catastrophic cardiac arrest,” according to a statement from the White Plains, New York hospital, where he died.
He was taken there from his home on April 2.
The rapper, whose real name was Earl Simmons, had been battling drug addiction since his teens.
His attorney, Murray Richman, had said he could not confirm reports of DMX overdose.
