The Queen left a handwritten note on Prince Philip’s coffin when he was buried yesterday at a funeral in Windsor.

The Duke of Edinburgh died peacefully at his home on April 9 in Windsor Castle at the age of 99.

He was married to the Queen for 73 years and had served by her side since she took the throne in 1952. The couple met as children and married in 1947.

At his funeral, a wreath was placed on the duke’s coffin containing a handwritten note from the queen signing Prince Philip’s affectionate name: ‘Lilibet’.

It is also the nickname that the Queen’s father, George VI, originally gave her as a child, because she had trouble pronouncing her own name.

The chest was wrapped in Prince Felipe’s personal flag, and on top was his navy cap and sword of the fleet’s admiral.

The queen’s crown featured white flowers chosen by the monarch, including freesia, lilies, sweet peas, and roses. The handwritten card next to it said, “In Loving Memory.”

Due to restrictions due to the coronavirus, the original plans for the funeral, known as Operation Forth Bridge, had to be significantly scaled back.

Only 30 mourners were able to attend the chapel service and the separated households were forced to be socially alienated.

Despite the fact that her four children were in attendance, the Queen was forced to sit alone in the chapel while her husband was buried in the royal vault of St. George’s Chapel.

The monarch reportedly carried a special memory of her life with the Duke of Edinburgh, a small photo of the newly married couple in Malta, in her bag in the church.
