The police chase ends with a report of shots fired Monday in Colorado Springs along I-25

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (KKTV) – Northbound I-25 was closed Monday night after a car chase began in or near Pueblo County.

Colorado State Patrol assisted in the chase and was able to provide brief details of the incident that occurred at approximately 5:30 pm. According to Trooper Josh Lewis of Colorado State Patrol, stop poles were used on I-25 northbound to disable the suspected vehicle in the Woodmen and I-25 area. The vehicle was believed to have been used in a robbery. Shortly after the vehicle hit the stop sticks, there were reports of shots fired.

Trooper Lewis said life-saving measures were taken against the driver of the suspected vehicle and at least one passenger was taken into custody.

No law enforcement officers or civilians were injured.

Colorado Springs Police are investigating the incident as an outside agency because it was a shooting involving an officer. It is not clear which department or agency was involved in the shooting.

Traffic cameras installed by the city of Colorado Springs showed a U-Haul truck against the median with a CSP vehicle next to it and an ambulance behind it. A live video showing the traffic camera scene is at the top of this article.

It is not clear when the highway will be open again.
