Santo Domingo, RD.
The organizing committee of the IX Ordinary Congress José Joaquín Bidó Medina of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) reported that it will decide on the proposal to amend Article 23 of its statutes, suggesting an increase to 43 members of its Political Committee.
The Political Committee currently has 35 members, in addition to the party chairman and the general secretary.
The article states that the “Political Committee is the executive body of the Central Committee and will be composed of the Chairman of the Party, the Secretary General plus forty-three (43) full members.”
They indicate that one of the points to consider in order to increase the number of members is that in the IX José Joaquín Bidó Medina Congress, the Central Committee enrollment will be about 1130 members, which is an increase of about 78% implies, so it is proposed an increase in the number of Political Committee members by 29 percent to have an enrollment of 43 members, to which are added the Chairman and General Secretary.
“The Organizing Committee will put this proposal to vote from Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 10:00 am to Monday, February 22, at 10:00 am, 2021, via the platform www.plddigital.do,” they explain in a note from PLD’s communications secretary.
