Santo Domingo, RD.
The chairman of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Temístocles Montás, reported that that organization met Thursday and Among the issues examined is whether they are leading a body to reverse the decision of the Senate of the Republic to grant the second majority to the People’s Force. in the National Council of the Magistracy (CNM).
This decision is being studied by the PLD, after the Central Electoral Council (JCE) decided the order of political parties based on the 2020 elections, giving the PLD the category of majority party with 32.30% and that of minority to the People’s Force granted by 4.54%.
He indicated that eNext Friday, the party will decide whether or not to submit the body to the appropriate courts.
“We at the Dominican Liberation Party, one of the things we are discussing today is an issue that we have not yet decided on is whether we are going to file a new case in the corresponding courts so that the Senate’s decision Republic, which has given the People’s Force the category of second majority in the Senate, must be reversed, ”he said in an interview about the Anibelca Rosario Más Cerca program.
Montás assured that the JCE’s decision was what should be done, because it is the elections that decide who the majority parties are.
He went on to say that the People’s Force response has since been understandable “They had their illusions with the idea of their approach to President Abinader’s government, the alliance they have with President Abinader that this would ensure that they are considered the majority party ”.
He said that too those who complain about the electoral body command over the political parties have to work in the next election tournament to get more than 5%, although he doubts whether this will happen.
“Those who are not satisfied with what they have should prepare so that they try to change the electoral situation in the next election, which I doubt,” he said.
Opposition
He assured that the Dominican Liberation Party has given 100 days of grace to Luis Abinader’s government, but that As the president speaks on Feb. 27, the country will see that organization resist.
“From February 27, you will see a PLD making opposition in the Dominican Republic,” he reported.
