The PlayStation 5 may be back in stock sooner than you think

The PlayStation 5 is notoriously difficult to find for many consumers eager to get their hands on Sony’s latest gaming console.

It has been a source of endless frustration as supply chain and manufacturing issues (largely caused by the COVID-19 pandemic) make it more difficult to get PS5 units. Meanwhile, bot-equipped scalpers regularly pop in and buy new stock when it hits stores, both online and physically.

So it’s always a gamble, and even if you click on a message or tweet to notify you about new PS5 stock, you’re often too late to actually make a purchase. Units sell out in seconds. It’s a bad situation everywhere.

Still, it never hurts to try.

TechRadar reports that Best Buy employees and other sources have informed them that the PlayStation 5 will be available in select stores today or early next week. Photos of pallets stacked with PS5 units have been posted on the website. Sources say Best Buy is “ready” to start selling units.

The reason we don’t have a set time is that Best Buy is waiting for PS5 units to be ready to roll out at each location. However, Best Buy has been rolling out new units every Friday for the past three weeks, so it’s very possible they will land today. If not, it could also mean we won’t see the PS5 on Best Buy shelves until next Friday.

Make sure you are logged into the Best Buy website with payment information to hand. Apparently you’ll have to keep refreshing the page for 45 minutes once they go live as Best Buy doesn’t list all units for sale at once.

You can find the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition here at Best BuyYou can also order online for curbside pickup. In-store sales are currently not allowed.

If Best Buy fails, there are rumors that Amazon will have a new batch of PlayStation 5 consoles available next week. To check here regularly to see if it’s in stock and stay tuned for more updates.

If you have a tip on replenishing PS5 or Xbox Series X, hit me on TwitterGood luck, and remember this tip: Never buy from a scalper. Never pay more than MSRP ($ 399.99 for the digital edition and $ 499.99 for the regular PS5). These systems will eventually reach a point where they are easily available and by then there will be more games available and fewer bugs.

Be patient, young grasshoppers.
