The number of Utahns hospitalized with COVID-19 is declining

According to UDOH, the number of coronavirus patients in ICUs has also decreased.

The number of Utahns hospitalized with COVID-19 dropped 11.1% from 396 to 352 on Tuesday. The number of coronavirus patients in intensive care fell by 8.46%, from 130 to 119.

And nearly a quarter of Utah’s ICU beds are now unoccupied.

However, the death toll continued to rise. Twelve deaths were reported on Wednesday; three or those occurred before January 14 and are only confirmed to be linked to COVID-19.

Vaccinations reported in the past day / total vaccinations • 19,722 / 345,179.

Cases reported in the past day • 1,591.

Deaths reported in the past day • 12.

Hospital admissions reported in the past day • 352. That is 44 less than Tuesday. Of those currently hospitalized, 119 are in intensive care units – 11 fewer than on Tuesday.

Tests reported in the past day • 9,149.

Percentage of positive tests • 17.39%. That is higher than the seven-day average of 16.6%.

Totals so far • 350,000 cases; 1,697 dead; 13,648 hospital admissions; 2,044,811 tests.
