The murders so far this year surpass those in 2020 to the same date, according to official police statistics.
167 murders were reported on Sunday, April 4, seven more than the same date in 2020.
There were five murders this weekend.
On Friday, Ángel Cruz Medina, 30, a resident of Juana Díaz, was shot dead outside a pig farm in the Guayabal neighborhood.
Four murders on Saturday
Edmill De León García was shot on Saturday around 1:30 p.m. on the premises of her work at the Yess Motel in Carolina.
Another murder was reported in Morales Street, stop 20, in Santurce. The dead body of a man who has not yet been identified was found at that site.
On the other hand, Josean Crespo Rodríguez, 31, was shot dead on Saturday at around 11:11 p.m. on Highway 1, kilometer 122.6 in Ponce.
The fifth murder took place on La Porte Avenue, Las Vías sector, in the Borinquen district of Guayama. Ernesto Montañez Amil, 31, was shot on the spot.
