The next shipment of the Pfizer vaccine in Oklahoma will be smaller than expected

COVID-19 vaccines are spread across at least 16 locations in Oklahoma. More than 2,200 Oklahoma residents have already been vaccinated.

The number of people vaccinated is likely to be low because healthcare facilities have 24 hours to report completed vaccinations. The State Department of Health plans to report the number of Oklahomas vaccinated regularly.

No serious allergic reactions to the vaccine have been reported in Oklahoma, Reed said.

“There are probably some sore arms out there, and some people who may have had other mild side effects,” he said.

Modern COVID-19 Vaccine

With the U.S. Food and Drug Administration likely to approve emergency use approval of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine this weekend, Oklahoma could see its first shipment of the company as early as Monday.

Oklahoma officials have been told to expect 66,200 doses of Moderna by December 23, and a second shipment of 29,200 doses the following week. More than 30 Oklahoma locations, including some county health departments, are expected to receive Moderna vaccines next week.

Unlike the Pfizer vaccine, the Moderna vaccine does not require ultra-cold storage.
