The next dragon era game will no longer have multiplayer aspects according to a newcomer Bloomberg report. The game, created by EA-owned studio BioWare, was reportedly “designed with a heavy multiplayer component,” but has turned into a single-player game in recent months.
However, we still haven’t seen much of the game since it was first announced with a short teaser trailer in December 2018, and we don’t know what the multiplayer component could have looked like. Even though the game has been in the works for a while – development began in 2015, reports Bloomberg – there’s no release date for it yet, which means it could be a long way and things can change. BioWare recently showed a cursory glimpse of the game in August and December.
The change comes amid other developments that have apparently made EA more willing to embrace only a single player dragon eraEA announced this on Wednesday Anthem Next, the planned restart of BioWare’s live service open-world shooter Hymn, has been canceled (although EA says the game will continue “as it stands”). And EA’s single player title Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, launched in November 2019, exceeded sales expectations, said Bloomberg
dragon era became one of BioWare’s big franchises based on its compelling single-player campaigns, so the news that the next title won’t have multiplayer is likely welcome news to many fans. In a recent interview with IGNLaura Miele, head of EA’s studios, said the company has listened to what players want and makes decisions based on that feedback.
“I asked [EA’s community leaders] to give me their best advice on how to get closer to our players, ”said Miele. “The biggest theme was – please listen to us about the content that players requested, resulting in green lighting [the new] Skate, College Football, Command & Conquer and additional content for Battlefront II
EA has also canceled a game that had been in development for years, code-named ‘Gaia’, according to another Bloomberg report.Gaia development was turbulent and the game underwent at least one major reboot, ” Bloomberg reported.
