The new explorable zone of Genshin Impact is launched

Gather for these, folks. Genshin Impact has launched its first card add-on, and it’s not just here for the holidays. The new Dragonspine zone is here to stay and it’s pretty fresh. Update 1.2 for Mihoyo’s open world warrior has arrived, featuring a new cold status effect, a new in-game event, and a host of other changes.

The Dragonspine area introduces Genshin’s new “pure cold” status effect. Collecting too much by staying out of the mountain’s freezing climate will damage your health. Walking through a snowstorm or swimming in the cold will speed up your sheer cold buildup, while heat sources like bonfires and torches will remove it. Prepare for the cold as Dragonspine is home to puzzles and quests you’ll want to figure out.

This also marks the beginning of the “The Chalk Prince and the Dragon” event where Mihoyo says you can earn the hip new weapon Festering Desire. The event will unfold into four acts throughout the remainder of December, where you can complete challenges to unlock Festering Desire’s special abilities.

You can find the rest of the details about the event in Mihoyo’s post. Full update notes with bug fixes, new character details and more can be found here.
