Alberto “Ringo” Martínez won the fight against Covid. The veteran Dominican musician was discharged after more than a month in a Dominican hospital after a progressive improvement.
“You have to follow outpatient care and rehabilitation. You cannot travel until you have been completely fired. Thank you all and keep praying so he can recover and return to join his family, ”his representatives said in a statement.
According to a press release, his condition is stable and “is gradually improving, but cautiously”.
Ringo Martínez, who is part of the merenguero duo La Patrulla 15 with Jossie Esteban, was treated in Puerto Plata.
+ A journey of sorrow
A resident of Puerto Rico for decades, the musician traveled to the Dominican Republic on Christmas time to visit his mother Josefina Peña, whom he had not seen for 13 months due to the pandemic. He is the only child.
Doña Fifa, as everyone affectionately called her, needed adequate and urgent care because of her advanced age of 95.
In the process, her mother fell and a rampant chain of events culminated in her diagnosis of Covid-19 and her subsequent death, on January 7.
At that time, the corona virus was also diagnosed at Ringo.
Martínez, pianist and singer Jossie Esteban formed a merenguera union that lasted more than 20 years, turning more than 100 merengues into hits.
Patrol 15 has recorded 25 music albums and more than 300 songs.
Ringo, 66, was born in Montecristi but developed in San Francisco de Macorís, where he started his path in music until he emigrated to Puerto Rico, the island where he developed his career, in February 1976.
