The Municipality of Ponce offers incentives to its merchants

The Mayor of Ponce, María “Mayita” Meléndez Altieri, reported today, Monday, that it has provided an economic boost of $ 750 to 80 small businesses to continue to mitigate their economic situation following the recent earthquakes that hit the town and the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We recognize that business disruptions and losses in infrastructure have seriously affected our operations and in many cases they do not have the resources to continue or resume their operations. For this reason, we take our responsibility to assist them whenever assistance is available to small businesses that have been most affected, after, ”the mayor said in written expressions.

In addition to economic incentives, the Autonomous Municipality of Ponce has in recent months issued exemptions for municipal patent payments, assisted in completing applications and referrals to the Department of Economic Development and Commerce for economic incentives, presented the ‘Reopening of My Business’ program which offered support and guidance and also served as a link for referrals and business guidance to other entities of the business ecosystem.

“Aside from that, we have asked Governor Wanda Vázquez to make a multi-sectoral effort to rebuild Ponce and the Southern Region and have established a service center with municipal employees to provide support in accelerating unemployment claims and the PUA,” said Meléndez Altieri.

He added, “While the challenges we have faced are beyond what we could have expected, Ponce remains fighting, resilient and focused on the reconstruction and revitalization that characterizes the Señorial City.”
