A meme version of the controversial conga Don’t mess with Cuba is rolling like wildfire on social media.

Combining humor and criticism, the intervention was directed by Luis Alberto Ramírez, known as one of the show’s producers. Hello! Ota-Ola and for his witty “Memes de Luis”.

“Go pa ‘that those of the communist conga continue with This is tiradera,” he warned in the description of the video, which opens fire in just over 30 seconds on the artists who show their support for the regime.

“We are the boot-licking dogs of Diaz-Canel / Those who defend poverty and the PCC / When your family is hungry, I eat well,” Luis says in the new lyrics.

In addition, references are made to some of the latest events of the Cuban government to alleviate the food crisis in which the country has plunged, such as marpacifico marmalade, tripe hash and, more recently, curiel.

The original song was composed by Alejandro García Virulo and with the participation of well-known Cuban music figures in support of the island’s government, such as Lazarito Valdés, Israel Rojas, Yumurí, Ricardo Leyva, Amaray, Mayito Rivera, among others.

According to the official portal CubadebateThe theme is “a reaction of Cuban artists to the constant provocations from the United States”. Lazarito Valdés, director of Bamboleo, for his part, assured that the song is a sign that youth and Cuban music “they remain united with the revolution”.

The music video was run by José Manuel García Suárez, and features the participation of the Conga de los Hoyos and the Guaracheros de Regla. The setting was the central Paseo del Prado in Havana.

In addition to throwing the “orange president,” Virulo wrote that “those who run his errands” rushed to form “a titingó” because they know “the baro will end”; a fragment many have associated with the San Isidro strikers and other artists, activists and journalists who demand an end to oppression and respect for human rights.

Cuban journalist José Raúl Gallego publicly regretted this on Virulo’s own Facebook profile a talented artist like him will lend himself to unveil the Cuban government version and blamed US President Donald Trump for the ills suffered by the Cuban people, asking him to clarify whether he was referring to the San Isidro strikers and 27N in the aforementioned excerpt, a question Virulo avoided.
