The Master Chief Collection release for new platforms, ostensibly teased

A new tease from 343 Industries has indicated that Halo: The Master Chief Collection may come to new platforms soon. While the details of this scourge aren’t really clear at this point, we need to find out what the studio is pointing out in the coming weeks.

In a new blog on the official Halo website, 343 Industries announced that it will be doing new flights (aka betas) for Halo: The Master Chief Collection late February or early March. While full details of what this flight has to offer were not given, 343 did say that this upcoming phase may give players “a new place and way to play”. The wording is rather mysterious, but it looks like the much-loved remastered collection from the Halo series could be moving to another platform.

But before you get too excited at the prospect of Halo: The Master Chief Collection landing on a device like the Nintendo Switch, there’s probably a better explanation for what’s plagued here. For starters, many fans have been asking for a custom game browser for quite some time. With this addition, people would be able to participate in custom multiplayer games at will, which would be great.

Conversely, there is also a chance that Halo: The Master Chief Collection could come to a brand new PC store. Right now, the game is currently available for download through Steam and the Microsoft Store, but the Epic Games Store is notably missing from this lineup. As such, it could reason Hello: MCC could come to EGS in the near future.

Regardless of what’s plagued here, 343 has said it will share more details of this upcoming flight once it has an actual launch date in mind. It was further emphasized that “things could change” in the coming weeks, meaning this new way to play the collection may not actually appear in the next flight.

If you would like to participate in this flight, you can also register to join the Halo Insider Program to participate in the promotion. The flight itself must also be available on all platforms for Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S and PC when it goes live.

So what do you think this new teaser is for? Halo: The Master Chief Collection? Make sure to give me your thoughts in the comments or on Twitter at @ Jeroen1988.
