The Mario 35 event, which scores 350 platinum points for little effort, is live

It only takes 10 minutes, tops

Super Mario Bros. 35 still running and getting closer to expiration date. But before that, Nintendo has a short event in store for us.

The challenge? Kill 3.5 million Bowsers between 11:00 p.m. PT on Jan. 18 and 10:59 p.m. PT on Jan. 25. Or simpler, you only have to kill one Bowser to get a potential reward of 350 platinum points (which can be used on physical or digital goods on My Nintendo).

You can beat your Bowser through the standard mode or the new event; which I would highly recommend as it makes Bowser find faster. I’ve hosted the event several times, and since you start with a fire flower, you can take out Bowser pretty quickly if you come across one (be it in a castle level or through someone sending it to you as a danger).

Just to be on the safe side, I ran a few courses and passed about five Bowsers in the course of about 10 minutes. It’s easy! If you have Switch Online, you have Mario 35, so you might as well dive in, get it done, and (probably) reap the benefit of 350 platinum.

As these events can sometimes be a bit picky in terms of timelines, we’ve provided the official documentation below just in case. Make a reminder to do it! It’s one of the easiest ways to get platinum that you can use for things like this.
