The prosecution found the newborn’s remains in front of the family’s home.
A 40-year-old man, identified as Crisanto TC, was captured by police officers in the village of Tres Ríos, in the municipality of Ixcán Playa Grande, Quiché department, Guatemala, on charges of rape and patricide.
The arrest took place when local police were warned that a newborn baby had been buried in front of Crisanto’s house a day ago.
According to preliminary investigations, the man allegedly raped his daughter last year, but she said nothing because he threatened her if she said anything to her family.

Authorities reported that the 15-year-old girl gave birth at her home 22 days ago, the father helped her deliver, then suffocated the newborn and buried him in front of the house.
Prosecutors and police investigators tracked down the baby’s remains and captured the man as a suspect in the baby’s murder and rape of his daughter. The village of Tres Ríos is a remote rural area of the neighboring country that is three hours from the center of the municipality of Ixcán Playa Grande, there is no telephone signal, let alone basic services.
