The Oregon Health Authority held a media briefing Friday to provide a COVID-19 vaccine update for Oregon.
This comes after operators of the massive COVID-19 vaccination site at the Oregon Convention Center announced that snow will force the shutdown Friday and Saturday. A decision on whether or not to open the site on Sunday has not yet been made.
A major vaccination site at Portland International Airport is also closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
About 6,000 residents of the area would be vaccinated at the Convention Center on Fridays and Saturdays. The staff will contact anyone who has made arrangements to reschedule them for another date, said Brian Terrett, a spokesperson for Legacy Health, who runs the site along with other regional healthcare providers.
Friday’s press conference featured comments from Patrick Allen, director of the Oregon Health Authority, and Dr. Dean Sidelinger, public health officer and epidemiologist.
