‘The Lady With Bindi’, NASA video goes viral

NASA’s Mars rover Perseverance successfully landed on the planet on Friday, and it was confirmed by Indian-American scientist Dr. Swati Mohan, who led the mission.

“Touchdown confirmed! Perseverance is safe on the surface of Mars, ready to begin looking for the signs of past life, ”said operations lead Dr. Mohan as the mission control room at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California burst into joy.

Released by NASA, this video has gone viral on social media and many praise Dr. Mohan. Meanwhile, Dr. Mohan’s bindi caught the attention of the Indians, and they felt proud to comfortably represent her cultural heritage. The internet residents were impressed by Dr. Swati’s cheerful appearance.

On the bindi, some netizens recalled that they were being physically bullied for wearing one, which means that for Dr. Mohan is quite a deal to carry and even own it at NASA.

Many on the social media were impressed by Dr Swati’s cultural appearance, which contrasted sharply with her achievement. Others congratulated Dr. Mohan because he was a woman, but still led the mission.

A few others tweeted that they got emotional when they saw a woman in space, once considered a male bastion.

The NASA scientist immigrated with her family from India to the US when she was just one year old and spent much of her childhood in northern Virginia-Washington DC. Dr. Mohan is a graduate of Cornell University and received her MS and PhD in aeronautics from MIT.

‘I’ve been working on Perseverance for longer than at any school. I spend longer with perseverance than my youngest daughter lives. It has taken up such a big part of my life for so long, ”said Dr. Mohan.
