Francisco Lindor will be introduced as Met at 11 a.m. Monday, new owner Steve Cohen said Sunday on Twitter, with the introduction of Carlos Carrasco on Tuesday.
Lindor and Carrasco were acquired in a blockbuster trade with the Indians in exchange for shortstops Amed Rosario, Andres Gimenez and a few potential clients, Isaiah Greene and Josh Wolf.
27-year-old Lindor will become a free agent for the first time after the upcoming season, and it remains to be seen whether the Mets can lock him up on a long-term deal before entering the open market.
When team chairman Sandy Alderson announced the transaction last week, he said, “there is every reason to talk about some sort of long-term relationship,” adding that in the “next few weeks, the Mets will be talking about a contract extension with Lindor and his agent. . “
