The Haunting Of Hill House creator Mike Flanagan says ‘There are no plans for more chapters’ of the anthology after a lackluster reception from Bly Manor

The first series created a lot of buzz in 2018 and gave Netflix viewers a wild ride.

But Haunting of Hill House creator Mike Flanagan beat hopes to fans of the anthology series who wondered if a third season might follow on this year’s Haunting of Bly Manor.

The 42-year-old Flanagan, who wrote in a tweet on Wednesday morning, replied to a viewer who asked, “Is there a chance for another chapter of Haunting in the future?”

No more Haunting: Haunting of Hill House creator Mike Flanagan blurred the hopes of fans wondering if a third season could follow at this year's Haunting or Bly Manor.

The 2018 Haunting Of Hill House, loosely based on Shirley Jackson’s book of the same name, starred Henry Thomas, Carla Gugino, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel and Victoria Pedretti.

The series received great reviews from critics and viewers alike, gaining 93 and 91 percent, respectively, for the critics’ composite score and average audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

In this year’s The Haunting Of Bly Manor, the same group of actors played different roles, in a dark Gothic love story loosely based on Henry James’s 1898 ghost story, The Turn Of The Screw.

While the latest episode managed to impress critics somewhat, it disappointed viewers who generally found it far too slow.

Bly Manor earned an 87 percent critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but the series’ viewership score dropped all the way to 62 percent.

But even if the prospect of new Haunting chapters seems unlikely, there is indeed more material from Flanagan and Intrepid on the horizon: Deadline reports that Intrepid Pictures signed an exclusive all-round TV deal with Netflix last year.
