Puerto Rican comedian Alfonso Alemán, best known for his character as “El Guitarreño” on WAPA TV, returns today to the program “Pégate al Mediodía” on that channel, but this morning he was at Noticentro Al Amanecer where he was received on the sound of “Llegó Dad”.
Alemán was absent on December 14 after undergoing surgery following an accident during repair work on his home. The artist had a deep crack in his right eye. At one point it was thought he would lose his eye.
“You trust yourself and we are wrong … We think we are Superman”, said Alemán in an interview with “Noticentro al Amanecer”.
For Alemán, his recovery time after the accident was “a test of God and I have overcome it” when he quoted the story of Abraham in the Bible and demonstrated the effect of the accident on his eye.
The artist also took the opportunity to thank his wife who was by his side during the ordeals.
“God is great. You know what it is that they will get your attention?”, Aleman emphasized.
El Guitarreño said he would like to return to the “Pégate al Mediodía” program, where he has a segment where he interacts with politicians from the patio.
Noticentro will present a special 4-day series on Alemán’s accident and what the artist’s recovery process was like.
The special series, which will air on WAPA and Wapa América, features several interviews with experts and family members who helped him through his rehabilitation process. Journalist Yesenia Torres spoke with retinologist and surgeon Andrés Emmanuelli, who is leading her treatment. Also with Dr. Paola Rebollo, an ophthalmologist at the Medical Sciences Campus, who was in charge of treating him after the emergency.
Jorge Gelpí Pagán, for his part, interviewed Dr. Andrés Manatou, his primary care physician, who, seeing what was happening, immediately referred him to visual health experts.
Journalist Celimar Adames will present the family impact of this event. Interviews with his wife Margie, as well as Pégate al Mediodía executive producers Gilda Santini and Sunshine Logroño, will let viewers know in detail what happened, how the emergency was handled and what their impressions were. Likewise, they provide information about your recovery process and the next steps of your treatment as a prelude to your return to the screen.
