Not only is the Capitol heavily indebted to the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA), this is also joined by other government agencies and several town halls on the island, as confirmed by an agency official today.
In a radio interview (Noti Uno 630), customer service director Noriette Figueroa indicated that they have a debt of $ 245 million to PREPA between government companies, municipalities and the Capitol.
“The government debt at Electric Power is close to $ 245 million,” the official said in the interview.
Yesterday, the President of the House of Representatives, Rafael “Tatito” Hernández, stated that the Capitol Superintendent has not paid for the electricity service in the past four years.
The new president indicated that he will have to make a payment plan to cover this debt that he believes is higher than the $ 2 million.
