The government is announcing a rise in fuel prices to $ 0.17 starting this week

This is the seventh increase in fuel prices so far this year. The increase is the result of increased demand for oil and a reduction in production agreed by OPEC.

There is no good news for motorists this week. The Department of Commerce announced on Monday that gasoline and diesel will have a significant increase of up to $ 0.17 per gallon at gas stations.

This is the seventh consecutive increase in the price of fuels recorded so far this year and is already starting to affect sectors such as taxi drivers and formal and informal freight transport.

According to the new reference prices that come into effect next Tuesday, the superior gasoline will rise $ 0.17 / gallon in the central and western part of the country, while it will increase in the east $ 0.16 / gallon

Regular gasoline will increase $ 0.17 / gallon in the central and western part of the country, in the east it will increase $ 0.16 / gallon while low-sulfur diesel will increase $ 0.08 / gallon in the central part of the country, in the western and eastern regions it will increase $ 0.07 / gallon

With these new prices, the gallon of specialty gasoline goes up to $ 3.60 in the central zone, $ 3.61 in the western zone, and to $ 3.64 in the eastern zone.

15 days ago, the rise per gallon reached $ 0.20.

The other prices per gallon of regular gasoline and diesel also fluctuate between $ 2.98 and $ 3.47 the maximum.

Do you know the four taxes you pay for every gallon of fuel?

According to the economy, the increase is mainly due to three factors:

* Generalized losses in March in strategic reserves of petroleum derivatives reported by the International Energy Agency (IEA).

* The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) foresees growth in demand for oil and derivatives.

* Losses in the dollar’s purchasing power against other currencies.

According to the economy, the prices are published being introduced and it is the gas stations that establish them depending on supply and demand. Liquid fuel prices are liberalized in El Salvador.
