Update # 1 [Tue 19th Jan, 2021 14:00 GMT]: The demo of Balan Wonderworld has now also been confirmed for the west. It will be released on January 28 on all platforms including the Nintendo Switch – same date as Japan!
Do you like what you’ve seen so far in Balan Wonderworld? Wondering if it might be on your street? Well, you’re in luck as the game will be treated to a free demo on the Switch eShop soon.
That’s right, starting January 28, you can get a free taste of this brand new 3D platformer. The demo will allow players to watch the game’s first, fourth and sixth chapters, and Nintendo Wire reports that local two-player co-op is also supported. The news was announced on social media today:
At the moment, the demo is confirmed for Japan only, which means you will need to create a secondary Japanese eShop account to download it to your system. Hopefully the demo will also be launched in the west, but setting up a Japanese account isn’t too much trouble if you’re excited.
If you need a quick catch up, Balan Wonderworld is a new platform game from Sonic the hedgehog makers, Yuji Naka and Naoto Ohshima. The game, which has a mysterious musical theater theme, will be published by Square Enix and will release on Switch and other platforms on March 26. Here’s a brief description:
The stars of the show will use special abilities from a variety of signature costumes as they go on an adventure in the bizarre and imaginary land of Wonderworld. Here, memories and vistas from the real world mingle with the things people hold dear.
Twelve different stories await our stars in Wonderworld, each with their own unique quirks. They will explore every corner of these maze-like stages, using all the tricks and gimmicks hidden along the way, to get to the core of each moving story.
