Opposition political parties as well as candidates from various parties have acknowledged their defeat after knowing the trends in last Sunday’s election results.
The first to make official statements was the FMLN party, where its general secretary, Óscar Ortiz, said the results of the election are detrimental to his left-wing project and that there will be new statutes according to the present time.
“The electorate decided to concentrate power in one person, which is what the Salvadoran electorate has disregarded in these elections,” Ortiz said.

He noted that according to widespread citizen participation in Sunday’s elections, it can be seen that the government’s entire campaign against alleged election fraud was building an image of fear, doubt and confusion.
“Upon seeing and witnessing the initial results, we are told that the handover process has worked reasonably well and it will always be perfect, but no one can say that from the count initiated by the voting councils across the country and the Municipal Electoral Councils have tried to steal, remove or falsify the will of the voters, ” said the FMLN general secretary.
Regarding the projections for his party, he said that the trend of the results gives them more than 6 deputies for the Legislative Assembly, but he would not provide data on the municipalities until there is official data.
He explained that after the results, the party will carry out a thorough political reform where they will make changes in the organizational, political and functional part to update and adapt to new demands and expectations of the population about the party as they are self-critical. because the result of the election is a downward trend that they have had in the last election, and he recognizes that they have not met the demands of the population, and therefore they will also have new statutes according to the current reality.

“We lost an election, but our political project is still in effect, it will continue, it will continue, always thinking about the country. The Mayor of San Salvador, Ernesto Muyshondt, thanked the people who gave him their vote and the work team that was in the capital’s mayor’s office for the three years, pointing out that he was not standing for a candidate, but for a state campaign.
“ This has been the most flawed process in our country’s democratic electoral history, we have no opponent, but rather we are faced with a state campaign involving arbitrary, blatant use of state resources, state institutions, not just for the official candidates, but for those which they consider to be persecuting, harassing, harassing, damaging, blocking their political opponents and for this they focused on San Salvador, ”the mayor emphasized.

While the candidate for Mayor of Santa Ana for New Ideas, Gustavo Acevedo, confirmed his victory in that city with 69% of the preliminary data, he gave a press conference in which the candidates for that party’s Legislative Assembly said.
“It is an extraordinary victory. We spoke to several international observers last night about one of the most stunning victories in the history of free elections in El Salvador. I want to thank all of Santa Ana for this trust, ”said Acevedo.
He confirmed that he will work on a street restoration plan, which will also avoid flooding and tourism for the municipality.
Also, the New Ideas candidate for the mayor of San Salvador, Mario Durán, posted on his Facebook profile that he confirmed his victory in the capital with 90% of the records processed.
“The San Salvador mayor’s office belongs to everyone again! With 90% of the records processed, there is no doubt, thanks to all residents of the capital for their trust. San Salvador will be the capital of Central America! ”, Durán posted on his networks.
Always from the official party and former mayor of San Miguel, Will Salgado affirmed that he had won that department head’s commune.
