Prosecutor Michael Lockard said Fuentes Ramírez met twice with President Juan Orlando Hernández in 2019 and “He paid bribes in both meetings.”
President Hernández has repeatedly dismissed these allegations, attributing them to a thirst for revenge for dismantling criminal drug trafficking gangs.
Fuentes Ramírez, arrested in Miami a year ago, is charged with three crimes: drug trafficking and possession of weapons. The jury started deliberating on its verdict on Friday and will continue to do so next Monday, when they are expected to reach the conclusion.
